I have never been a smoker or used tobacco products and I’ve always had good oral hygiene. This diagnosis was mind-blowing. Working for an incredible doctor opened doors quickly. Shortly after the biopsy my primary doctor approached me with the idea of using a nano carbon, called Grafex to help heal quicker. I had never heard of it before, but was willing to do anything to heal quickly as the pain was unimaginable.
I began taking capsules immediately twice a day as well as applying the Grafex mixed with a small portion of coconut oil to the affected region of the tongue. I applied it every morning and every night and sometimes in the middle of the day. once the tongue had healed a bit, we began photodynamic therapy or PDT. This sped up the healing process even more.
When I went for my biopsy follow up the doctor was amazed at how good my tongue looked. He said it was the best any tongue had ever looked after such a procedure. In fact, my tongue healed so quickly that 26 days after getting diagnosed I was being prepped for surgery to remove part of my tongue that contained the cancer.
After the initial healing of the tongue from surgery we again, began to apply the Grafex. When I went to my follow-up with my surgeon he was amazed at how good the tongue had healed. He said he had never seen a tongue heal so fast!
Several weeks after surgery I went to see my radiation oncologist he said my tongue looked great and we could proceed with radiation treatments sooner than expected.
I continued to take the capsules to help with nausea from radiation. I was not expected to experience nausea due to the location of the treatments but I did not want to chance it.
About 2 weeks into my treatments, I ran out of my Grafex. After 3 days the nausea was horrible. I was able to get more and started taking the capsules again. My nausea began to subside. I am now two weeks out from having 33 radiation treatments completed on my tongue. I have now begun to use my (Grafex) again applying topically every morning and every night.
This product/medicine is a Godsend. A traumatic injury to the tongue is more debilitating than you can ever imagine. Everything you do, every breath you take, every second of the day is consumed by pain and discomfort.
Grafex has proven to be an effective, healing product. Speeding up the healing process is critical in trauma to the mouth. I have been unable to get the necessary nutrition to heal my body because of the pain caused by radiation. Sometimes just the hope of healing is enough to keep you going. That is what the Grafex has done for me.
I have been looking forward to the day I could start using it again after the radiation because I know that it works!!!! I started using it topically again two days ago. Yesterday I was able to eat the most I have eaten in the last 3 weeks.
I am now beginning to regain my strength because I’m able to once again get nutrients. I will always have some Grafex on hand to help heal wounds. And I will also make sure that all my friends and family know about it. This is a game changer!”
