D. I want to give a short response about my experience with the nano material. To start, I should give you some background: I retired from Dow Chemical after over thirty years of working in both the highest level of management as well as utilizing my Physical Chemistry degree in my early years to accelerate my upward advancement.
I have over 500 patents in my name. I also taught at the University level for 16 years. I only state this to emphasize that what I am about to tell you come from a person that has considerable experience in the chemistry world and how this Grafex material has benefited me.
About eight years ago I developed a health issue and about five years ago, the health issue was finally diagnosed as an incurable disease called ankylosing spondylitis or AS. I had never heard of it. In the form that I have, it attacks joints, especially in the back. My back joints are essentially locked together and do not operate. And there are problems in the rest of my body. The disease is not common.
After seeing several doctors, I had gotten several different opinions about what my problems were, but most admitted they had not seen anything like this before. There was pain and inflammation all through my body. I became somewhat knowledgeable about inflammation, which can be measured by a test called sed rate (Erythrocyte sedimentation rate) or ESR.
As I understand it, sed rate measures inflammation throughout your body and reports the results as a number. A normal reading is about 8 or less. With a number of 10 or higher, a human body is considered to have above normal inflammation. A reading of 20 or higher is very high inflammation.
To continue my history, I had several different diagnoses, and was getting several different treatments, but my situation was getting worse and worse. So in desperation, I went to the Mayo Clinic. After doing some tests (my sed rate was over 100), their opinion was that all of the previous diagnoses were wrong. They said I had AS.
So, after three years of failure and my health situation getting worse and worse, all my treatments changed. The new treatment was a regular infusion of a biologic, a type of medicine, that slows or stops the progress of the disease. It does not cure. The biologic also disrupts the immune system.
Some biologics have a positive result on AS for a time and then stop working. The treatment results are measured by regular blood tests. My first biologic stopped working, and I was switched to a second one that seemed to work, but over time the second biologic was being given in larger doses and the time between infusion treatments was getting shorter.
An infusion is where the biologic medicine is dripped into your blood vein and it takes several hours. The time between infusions was getting shorter and the amount of medicine was being increased over time so I knew the second medicine was slowly losing its effect. My sed rate had been about 12 and had moved closer to 18. Of course, there are several tests performed regularly but the sed rate test as a measure of inflammation is a good overall measure of my situation.
I began taking the (Grafex) nano material at about 50 mg per day, in a mixture of coconut oil and olive oil. I began taking this dosage about a year after I started on the second biologic medicine.
As I mentioned above, I knew the second medicine was starting to lose its effect. But after starting the nano, over the next 12 to 18 months, my sed rate stabilized, and then began to fall. I was able to move around much more easily, and it was less painful.
Then, after about two years of nano, the time between infusions started getting longer. So now I am taking 25% less medicine and my sed rate is in a range of 3 to 4. My ability to move around has changed. I have gone from being able to walk less than half a mile a day to walking over four miles a day, several days a week.
There have been a number of changes in my physical situation that have greatly improved my quality of life. For example, just before I started the nano, I needed a cane to just hobble around the bathroom. I bought a car during that time, and the only issue or not was whether I could get in the car without major help. At that time, I could not actually get in most cars. I had stopped driving myself because I could not turn my head to the side enough to look down the cross street at an intersection. On the trip to the Mayo Clinic, I traveled from Texas to Minnesota and I had to go in a wheelchair.
Now I have no need for a cane, and certainly not a wheelchair. I am now willing to drive around some, because I can now look sideways enough look down the cross street at an intersection. I have had several people tell how different I look, and ask me what has changed. A couple days ago, I actually jogged for 8 or 10 steps just to see if I could. The change has been enough for my doctor to ask me what I was doing. She knew something else was going on because the changes were so significant and completely unexpected.
I cannot prove that the nano material had anything to do with all this improvement. The disease itself apparently cannot be cured, but problems caused by the disease can be managed. But after almost 8 years of this disease and all those problems, and only about 2.5 years of nano with all of this improvement, I do not want to stop taking the material.
